WHAT DO WE DO?

We are fiduciaries.  We accept the responsibility for taking care of the needs and/or property of another person for the benefit of that person.  We serve in a role of trust.  The person served by a fiduciary places trust in the fiduciary to manage his or her affairs solely for their benefit even though they may be frail, incapacitated and vulnerable.

WHO CAN BE TRUSTED TO HELP?

Family may be available; however, helping the vulnerable person may mean spending their future "inheritance".  It is easy to see how decisions may be affected by family involvement.

Consider using a third party who has no claims on the future inheritance, whose only goal is to provide a safe and secure future for the vulnerable party.  This third party should be trained and bonded.  When a third party is involved, the family is encouraged to visit as family and free to be emotional support for future changes.
